Woodchucks Poem Essay -- essays research papers

â€Å"Eliminating the Pest† In the sonnet â€Å"Woodchucks† by Maxine Kumin, the speaker is in her nursery and is irritated with certain woodchucks that are eating and devastating the produce in the nursery. The speaker thus attempts to evacuate the woodchucks by utilizing others conscious gas to slaughter them and when that is fruitless, she falls back on progressively vicious methods. This sonnet utilizes the irritating woodchucks to imply the Jewish individuals during the Holocaust by the Nazi Party.      In the primary refrain of the sonnet, the speaker plainly distinguishes that a few woodchucks are irritating her. To take care of this issue, the speaker utilizes gas as an approach to take out the bugs rapidly and easily much like the Nazis attempted to kill the Jews from their essence. Gassing the woodchucks is a simple method to evacuate the vermin since utilizing gas doesn't include taking a gander at the casualties as they are killed. This is likewise why the Nazis utilized the gassing strategies to slaughter the Jews. After time this strategy was not as generally utilized because of the strength of the woodchucks and Jews. Therefore, this drove the executioners to utilize progressively savage strategies.      The second verse and third refrain advise how the woodchucks keep on devastating the nursery in light of the fact that the cyanide gas was not effective. The speaker tells about the woodchucks assuming control over the vegetable fix and executing the carrots. This makes the speaker insane, along these lines taking the viciousness to another level. The speaker pulls out a weapon and puts the ...

‘God is extraordinary, God is acceptable, presently we express gratitude toward him for our food. ’ This basic supplication reflects twin responsibilities in Christian conviction to God’s enormity and God’s goodness. However Christian theodicies have regularly asserted to God’s significance to the disadvantage of his integrity. We will compose a custom paper test on God Is Great or on the other hand any comparative point just for you Request Now Let us decipher God’s significance in a way other than power. In reality, let us consider God’s significance, as the medievals comprehended God’s goodness, as far as being: goodness and being are exchangeable; 1God is the most genuine being; subsequently, God is the best being. God is extraordinary. Let us decipher God’s goodness in a way practically equivalent to human goodness. I take God’s goodness as undifferentiated from essentially to the parent-kid relationship; God is acceptable, as indicated by this similarity, as a dad or mother is to their kids. 2Caring for one’s kids is a worldview allegory in Scripture for God’s carefor his animals. God is acceptable. The motivation behind this exposition is to investigate the consequences of these two perspectives for the issue of underhandedness and particularly for the issue of hellfire. Decisions regularly saw hellfire as an interminable dungeon maybe with God himself as the torturer. I will elucidate the two perspectives on divine goodness, present a few contentions with all due respect, and afterward find them inside the setting of a Theodoric of human affliction. I will contend that nor is independently sufficient as a comprehension of the perfect nature; yet, on the off chance that both are kept up, a trilemma emerges for the conventional principle of the interminable discipline of the doomed. That is, I will contend that one can hold the accompanying three perspectives just on agony of irregularity: 1. God is extraordinary. 2. God is acceptable. 3. In simple words, it refers to how much (quantity) of a product or service is desired by buyers (Consumers) Example: A person wants an LAPTOP and he has $700 to spend on it. He is ready to spare $700 and so he has created a demand for that product which the market should supply. SUPPLY The total amount of goods or service available for purchase depending on the demand is called supply. In other words, it represents how much a market can offer for the product demanded. The quantity supplied refers to the amount of a certain good producers are willing to supply when receiving a certain price. DEMAND CURVE The demand curve shows the amount that consumers are willing to buy given a particular market price. It is the graphical representation of a demand schedule. For example: A Demand sch edule of a Particular product is as follows: PRICE54321 QTY. DEMANDED1017265375 The Demand Curve will be The demand curve is usually downward sloping, since consumers will want to buy more as price decreases. Demand for a good or service is determined by many different factors other than price, such as the price of substitute goods and complementary goods. In extreme cases, demand may be completely unrelated to price, or nearly infinite at a given price. Along with supply, demand is one of the two key determinants of the market price. FACTORS DETERMINING THE DEMAND of the PRODUCT Some factors that determine the demand for a product: ?Price of Product and its substitutes ?Consumer’s income ?Consumer’s taste and preferences ?Consumer’s Future expectations ?Population of a country and its credit facility ELASTICITY of DEMAND The Degree of responsiveness of demand to the change in its determinants is called Elasticity of Demand In simple, elasticity is the ratio of the percent change in one variable to the percent change in another variable. This concept plays an important role in business-decisions regarding manoeuvring of prices with a view to making larger profits. PRICE ELASTICITY of DEMAND Generally it is defined as the responsiveness or sensitiveness of demand for a commodity to the changes in its price. More precisely, elasticity of demand is the percentage change in demand as a result of one percent change in the price of commodity. Price elasticity (ep) is given by Mathematically, definition of elasticity is given by Where Qd = Original Quantity demanded P = Original price ?Q = Change in quantity demanded ?P = Change in price. PRICE ELASTICITY AND TOTAL REVENUE Price and total revenue are related as follows: Total Revenue = Price ? Quantity There may be 3 kinds of price elasticity a). Less than unit elastic (ep1) In this situation, change in quantity demanded is greater than the proportionate change in price. Therefore total revenue increases as price falls and vice versa. An increase in price would result in an increase in revenue, and a decrease in price would result in a decrease in revenue. In the extreme case of elasticity near 0, the demand curve would be nearly vertical, and the quantity demanded would be almost independent of price. The case of zero elasticity is described as being perfectly inelastic. PRICE ELASTICITY of the PRODUCT PRODUCT TAKEN Himalaya Purifying Neem Face Wash 100ml. One of the most prominent product of The Himalaya Drug Company, the demand of this product is growing day by day irrespective of the increase in the price of the product. Its total revenue is increasing which is discussed below: PRICE ELASTICITY Himalaya Neem Face Wash (100ml) sales statistics Sales VolumePrice in Rs. Dec’08-Sep’09Oct’09-Jul’10% ChangeDec’08-Sep’09Oct’09-Jul’10% Change 22,19,65833,13,97949. 30%65707. 69% Substituting in the formulae o f price elasticity, we have ep = (49. 30/7. 69) = 6. 41 which is greater than 1 ep1which means elastic demand. Here we see an increase in the total revenue (TR) as a result of the marginal increase in the prices. ANALYSIS OF THE PRODUCT FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR ELASTIC DEMAND ?During the last 2 years many new products have been launched by the competitors like Everyouth face wash, Ponds, Garnier etc with nominal price range but because of the herbal nature and optimum quality of the product, it is still winning the hearts of the consumer. The product contains less of chemicals as it is herbal in nature. Consumers these days are shifting more towards buying herbal products to minimize the harmful effects of chemicals. ?The price increase is marginal in nature and is not affecting the buying capacity of the consumers. ?The marketing strategy of the company so as to reach to the common man is much more effective than its competitors. ?In recent years, consumers taste and preferences has taken a shift towards natural products as they are not harmful to their body. CONCLUSION After analyzing the price elasticity of the product, we found that the demand sales of Himalaya Neem Face Wash has been increasing steadily over the years and currently the company is enjoying the peak position in face wash categories in India. Even an increase in the price of the product didn’t have any effect on its demand. With monthly sales of more than 5, 00,000 units, Himalaya is the leader in face wash segment in India with a market share of around 70%. The study of this phase of the project has helped us to understand the concept of â€Å"Demand Analysis and Price Elasticity† and how this concept is useful in analyzing the demand of the product and its applications.

Imperfect Mobility and Co-specialization Disney’s strong legal protection makes it nearly impossible for competitors to copy or imitate Disney’s chara cters. In addition, the parts comprising the Disney whole would be of less valuable to a poacher than they are to Disney. This is because, for Disney, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. In a word, synergy. Even if a competitor succeeded in hiring away key talent, for example, the competitor would still lack the tradition, culture, and complementary assets that make up Disney. Synergy Disney has mastered the art of the cross-sell. It has done so by leveraging its characters and carefully controlling its image, driving toward a unified, highly valued customer experience. An example best illustrates this. Consider a typical multi-day family trip to Disney World. A family books lodging months in advance at a hotel inside the park. Desiree s Baby, By Kate Chopin - 888 Words

In Kate Chopin’s short story, Desiree’s Baby, she tells the story through the eyes of the characters. This story is told in the omniscient point of view. The omniscient point of view means that the storyteller knows all of the thoughts and emotions of all the characters throughout the story. In the nineteenth century there was a lot of racial discrimination against African-Americans. The protagonist is Desiree; she is formed throughout the many situations in the short story. She is fought by the antagonist, Armand Aubigny. My work experience at South London Press Essay Example For Students

My work experience at South London Press Essay Near the end of last year, my schools work experience co-coordinator came to us and told us it was time to begin planning for work experience, which begins on July 7th till the 16th. Due to fact Ive always wanted to work experience because older children in the past have said it has been fun and enjoyable, plus you get to work in typical work environment. Although work experience has gained praise I believe work experience is about learning new skills, learning new ideas, working as part of a team and having the ability to communicate. Although our work experience co-ordinator said do not restrict yourself to just the job you believe your going to do in the future, but try to get a job which youre interested in. With that in mind I began applying for placements in my field of interest Media, before the Christmas holidays I sent out a number of application forms which had included a cover letter, a c. v. And a permission letter from work experience co-ordinator Ms McQuaid. During the holidays I waited for replies from my choice of placements but I heard nothing. So when I came back after the new Year I sent of thirty five new applications to various sections in media, these included KISS 100, Capital fm, XFM, Channel FIVE, The Sun, The Daily Mirror and The South London Press. When it came to February I began to get various replies however they were all rejections. Reasons they would say include Im under 18, I applied too late and that the placements for July were all taken. Seen as I had applied to fifty placements I still had a chance to get the placement of my choice, with my co-ordinator breathing down our necks to tie down a placement or risk getting one not of your choice in somewhere like Sainsburys stacking shelves. So with that in mind I began phoning the placements I applied for. This was very hectic but my school gave me the time to do so during games lessons and at lunch times when I needed to do so. Whilst phoning around I came into contact with many helpful people some not so co-operative, I found the larger companies had the worst attitudes. With ten chances left to get a placement of my choice I phoned South London Press and spoke to Kara the assistant to publishing director at South London Press. She asked me my interests and I told her she then said to come for an interview on the 18th of April. The same day Kara agreed to have an interview with the Big Issue had accepted for a placement. I kept this opportunity open and still went for the interview for the South London Press. The interview was on the 18th of April, on the day I had to take with my cover letter, permission letter and c.v. The day was very sunny and the journey was simple, take Victoria line tube to Victoria then the Southwest Train to Streatham Hill Station The location of SLP. When I arrived I greeted the reception and asked for them to call Kara. I waited for two minutes and Kara came and she took me to the interview room where she discussed dates with me and then told me I had got the placement which I was happy with. With the struggle to gain a placement out of the way I had to begin filling in health and safety forms and looking up information on SLP. The months flew by and by time I had looked three months had passed and it was time for the whole of year tens induction to work experience, which was the 5th July. On this day we got a thirty-six-page work experience diary, which had to be filled out through out the placement period, which was help. The induction lasted for a morning. On Friday I also phoned Kara to see what time I started and finished, the times were 10am till 4pm. On the following Monday work experience began, I travelled to Streatham hill for 10am, on my mind was to find out what makes this paper so good that people in South London pay 35p twice a week. The first day was good; it went by at considerable speed as many of the staff was rushed of their feet as Monday was deadline day for tomorrow Tuesdays newspaper. One the Monday I was kept quite busy . I toured the building, did the post, surfed the internet looking at national weekly newspaper sales, designed a questionnaire for a interview later in the week, looked at past issues of the SLP. I also did various other things like enveloping and the post. However during the week things moved faster and I learned a lot of new things, much of what I wanted to learn. Although I learned a lot, I also had to do a lot admin work which included filing, photocopying, enveloping ands loads of handing out bulletin leaflets to all four floors. At times it became tedious; I knew it was part of work for everybody even the Series Editor. On the placement I learned how to frank mail, use the feeder on the photocopier and I learnt how to bind papers, I think learned these skills because I enjoyed. Enveloping was the task I least enjoyed, so adding salt to the wound. I did loads of it. At the start of the placement I came across something typical of work environment, it took place in the restroom where the vending machines are, to girls came in and began bitching about other girls in the Tele Sales department and my supervisor looked at me and said thats typical. Another funny time was when I went out with the sales rep Matt Best over the day we travelled to Catford, Eltham and Charlton whilst driving to these locations he kept me laughing with his sexual innuendoes and his comments to other drivers. On the return to SLP Kara told me I went out with the funniest man in the building, which was true. The last of the funny encounters came on the last day in the sports desk, the three sports journalists Tobi (editor) and Hasim and Chris (reporters) were jokes about members of staff and lower league football teams came all the time. On my first day, Kara my supervisor said it was important that I interview the Series Editor, as this would enlighten me on how things are run in an environment like SLP. As this was the first morning to prepare the questionnaire for Friday. She gave me newspapers and various Internet sites to aid me in putting together a good questionnaire. The newspapers did help but the Internet sites I found were not precise enough on what I was looking for. The end result was a two pages with 17 questions regarding various areas in journalism and a career in journalism in media it took me just over two hours to complete in the end I was happy with it. On Friday my interview was postponed because of shortage of staff, so on Tuesday out of the blue Kara gave the chance to do the interview before I left on the Wednesday. As Hannah Walker the Series Editor was absent I interviewed the deputy Series editor Shujual Azam. He was very willing to answer all my questions, I found out he likes the aspect of journalism and but he dislikes the admin. I also asked how many people are under his wing in SLP, he said, Sub editors, promotions, sports journalists. During my interview I asked him what he achieved through his career he said a lot things, a well paid job and a nice house. Regarding achievements, I believe over my eight-day placement I picked up many new skills. Like how to count paper fast, quick way how to work VAT. Along with this I also believe I improved my communication skills. .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 , .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 .postImageUrl , .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 , .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589:hover , .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589:visited , .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589:active { border:0!important; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589:active , .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589 .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ufe4502c097ff12a05c77bac0c9849589:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Romeo and Juliet is a play based mainly around the theme of love EssayI believe this was down to the fact every day I was introducing myself to new people whether it was outside selling adverts to businesses, telling staff about what Im studying at school, or asking questions to members of staff for information I required. At the beginning of my placement I wrote out targets which I wanted to achieve from my placement at South London press. They where to see the layout of a paper, undertake aspects of work placements without supervision, to manage free time effectively, be able to work in a team, to be flexible, to record various types of information on a database. As you can see from my targets, I set my standards high. Although I had a few problems with achieving my targets, however I achieved 95% of my targets under the supervision of Kara who wrote my achievement in my report when my teacher came to visit. One of my targets I would like to improve on in the future is my information technology skill. At SLP it was very difficult to do this because their was not that much I. T work to do apart from mail merging addresses and writing up a letter in Microsoft Word for the South London Press sponsored heros awards. The one an half weeks spent on work experience I found was very enjoyable, I achieved nearly 100% of my targets set, found out a lot about the background to producing a weekly regional newspaper. I believe the placement in South London Press was very fundamental for my future as underlined what I believed and that is that my career is in media very much the journalism side and not football. My time at South London Press would have not been achieved if wasnt for help from my Ms McQuaid, Kara McIlvaney, June Brown, Ms Ross, Ms Schmidt and myself. So Im very grateful to everyone for their efforts. Thank you
